well, I'm among those people who still use it :P
but VX is clearly superior to make a game that will look good and have a good atmosphere. it is more attractive. I guess many XP people are inclined to moving on to VX. even RM2000 was better than XP in that aspect. oh, and judging by forum activity, none of the engines can be considered much 'alive' here. |

I still use RMXP for mapping cause I"m too lazy to develop a game... but VX and VXAce have more features
so since I can't let go of the RMXP Mapping, I am now creating VXAce Tilesets made with RMXP Tilesets just so I can go on with VXAce

That is a rather common practice you know.
Personally I still prefer XP, but some of the other scripts I have been working on are for VX Ace etc. The mapping is the one thing that XP has over both VX and VXA. However, methods in VX/VXA (which could be employed in XP as well), along with the 'more colorful' therefor inviting graphics draw people in. That and scripts are like 100% better. In other words, VX and VXA are really great systems. If you dont like the mapping, dont use it. Then.. well, there is no downside really. Is RMXP dead? Certainly not, however there are not near as many new developments with it. It is much like rm2k was to XP. At first people were hesitant to transfer, but in the end they realized it was for the best.

And that will happen in time.... to XP..........
If the net Rpg Maker has VX features and XP graphics then THAT's THE WAY TO GOOOO

Most people that use XP graphics in VX, do their maps in XP, then take a screenshot and save it as a background image for VX for tilex mapping. At least, that has been my experience.

Of course RMXP is dead. Here's a graph, from google trends. So its search volumes.
![]() It sure was good back then. Those RMXP days are gone for good in terms of RPG Maker. Enterbrain has never listened to its customers. People used to complain that RMXP was too hard, and that's what enterbrain foolishly did listen to. RMXP did not need simplified, those people are too damn lazy to learn a point and click game maker. They made an easy system easier and turned to chibi graphics, which a lot of people find a lot worse. I certainly find RMXP graphics far superior, minus the battlers, and even though I'm really desensitized to the RTP. Just those charsets, that seems like going backwards to me in terms of a game maker, but depends on the game. In my opinion you had some decent game makers attracted to RMXP. The crap they have now won't attract the same talent. They even advertise it "so easy a child could use it". How sad is that. Oh, and lets not forget RPG Maker Web. Killing off all the indie rpg maker sites and profiteering off hobby game makers. At least I was around in the CA's and RMXP's glory days. It was a much better time :) This post has been edited by Fugly: Feb 20 2013, 07:24 AM |

Well Fugly,
I agree with you about people being totally lazy to lift a finger in game making. RMXP was supposed to be great! excluding the RTP battlers. Enterbrain should have at least kept the tileset system... I don't think chibi characters isnt much of a problem though since we can set our own graphics. And in my perspective, decrease in search doesn't mean its necessarily dead. And Isnt it better that its easier? I mean the scripting can make it complex right? im just sayin' too bad i was here after the XP days though :( must have been great...

I would just like to add. If you searched for 'porn' rpg maker is but a blip on the radar, if that. :)
Yes VX has become more used than XP, but VX has not, nor will ever reach the height of what RPG Maker was with XP.

By no means was I suggesting. Just saying how irrelevant the discussion of rpg maker is in the grander scheme of things. :)
