So, I am thinking about getting a little bit into making some music. Just cause I love music and I would like to! I have a couple cool rhythm's I would like to get off my chest :)
Anyway, our tutorial section here is vastly... old. As such the suggestions may not hold quite as true today as they once would have. So I am going to throw a couple questions your way. For the person that has no money (which is me) what would be your recommendation for software/application to use? Is there a place for me to download a bunch of 'good' sound fonts that sound like actual instruments? Any place I can go, or tutorials I can be referred to to help me construct my songs in a 'correct' manner? If there is anything else you would like to add, feel free! I am just looking for 'where to start' in all of it anyway. Thanks!

No, that's more research than I had even done. I am hoping that Danny will come for the rescue here! He started with free I think and slowly went to paid software's. Anyway, this gives a starting point for me to play with it a little.

Hello!
So I recently took (and dropped) a computer networking class...nevermind the details. :P As part of the class, though, I was given access to a variety of software including a program called SongSmith from Microsoft. You choose a musical style from a library and then you just SING to it. It generates chords based on your singing and puts a basic accompaniment to your singing, which you can then alter the chords and change the instruments that comprise the backup. Not sure if this is quite where you were going, but I find the program to be pretty cool and fun to play with! ^_^ |
